Union Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated a Skill India Centre in Dhenkanal, Odisha, underscoring its significance in bolstering the region’s skill development landscape. This initiative aims to provide access to 21st-century skills, aligning with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. Pradhan emphasized that the Skill India Centre (SIC) in Dhenkanal is a crucial step towards realizing the ‘Modi Guarantee’ of positioning India as a Global Skill Capital. Operated under the aegis of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), this center introduces various initiatives to catalyze the potential of young talent in Odisha. The SIC in Dhenkanal is tailored to offer specialized training in contemporary techniques, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enhance the learning experience. It emphasizes an industry-centric approach, ensuring that students gain practical insights into emerging trends and can apply these skills effectively in today’s job market.

Moreover, the center aims to preserve traditional crafts by integrating them into modern contexts, thereby promoting the rich cultural heritage of the region. By offering future skills courses at affordable prices, it seeks to empower youth and make them competitive in both domestic and global markets. The center boasts best-in-class infrastructure, advanced technologies, and modern facilities, positioning it as a hub for nurturing talent and facilitating placements across industries. Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) will provide sector-specific expertise, identify skill gaps, and collaborate with industry partners to create a skilled workforce tailored to industry needs. To ensure effective implementation, NSDC will appoint a Centre Manager responsible for monitoring training programs, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and overseeing the center’s overall functioning. Through these concerted efforts, the Skill India Centre in Dhenkanal aims to demonstrate tangible outcomes in enabling youth to acquire the skills necessary for success in their chosen fields.
