Valour in Veins: The Saga of the Indomitable Spirit of Odisha

By Sujit Kumar Pruseth & Charudutta Panigrahi

This coffee table book, first published in 2018, is Odia Samaj’s ultimate dedication to Odisha’s unsaid and uncelebrated history of valour and courage. The authors have put words to the unspoken pride and dignity of Odias who fought valiantly for the sovereignty of their country much before the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857. Dedicated to the 200th year of the Paika Rebellion, the book highlights Odisha’s valiant battles from 1804 to 1947 for pride, dignity, and identity against injustice, exploitation, and repression. The book’s flow is thematic rather than chronological, and it depicts the narrative of bravery that runs through the Odia people.
