Spearheading the movement to bring recognition to the first freedom fighters and their uprising against the British Rule, Odia Samaj is celebrating the Bicentennial anniversary of the historical Paika Rebellion through various cultural and social functions. The initial programme was held at the iconic Vigyan Bhavan, in New Delhi in July 2017. The programme was graced by the then President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee. The voice of the Paikas- the great warriors from Odisha is since then reverberating across the nation. An enthralling dance drama titled “Odia Paika”, showcasing this important chapter of India’s history , was successfully organised in Delhi, Lucknow and Gurgaon in the months of Sept and Oct 2017. We also observe this Bicentenary Celebration of Paika Rebellion titled as ” Odia Paika Bidroha towards British Rule ” in other cities of INDIA like Bangalore , Chennai , Bhubaneswar and Kolkata .
