Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal inaugurated a Mass Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training programme at KIIT Deemed-to-be-University in Bhubaneswar. The event was attended by Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Krishna Kishore Jasthi, Sri Sathya Sai Trust, Odisha Convenor Akshay Pani, Global Resuscitation Expert and Advisor, Odisha govt Dr Vemuri S Murthy, and KIIT & KISS Founder Dr Achyuta Samanta. The CPR training programme, organized in collaboration with KIIT Sri Jagannatha Service Foundation and Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization, aims to train 1,500 students in its initial phase. Over the next 18 months, all students and staff of KIIT and KISS will be trained under this program. The initiative is expected to significantly benefit tribal communities residing in remote areas across Odisha.
During the inauguration, the Governor emphasized the importance of being cautious about environmental pollution and its impact on human health. Dr. Samanta praised the CPR training program by Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization, emphasizing the need for a holistic approach to tackle diseases like heart attacks caused by changes in lifestyle. Heart disease is a major global health concern, with a 90% fatality rate if immediate CPR and emergency assistance are not provided. CPR is a life-saving technique that helps maintain blood circulation and restart the heart during cardiac arrest, increasing the chances of survival until professional medical help arrives. The program aims to equip people with the necessary skills to save lives in emergency situations.
