Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan graced the auspicious occasion of the Sitala Sasthi yatra in Sambalpur, Odisha, where he actively participated in the divine wedding procession of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Expressing his gratitude, Minister Pradhan remarked, “We are fortunate that we have attended the wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.”

The Sitala Sasthi festival commemorates the holy union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and the city of Sambalpur witnessed a grand Shobha Yatra (procession) spanning two days. Lord Shiva, accompanied by Goddess Parvati, embarked on a joyous journey throughout the city, captivating the hearts of the devotees. The idols of the divine couple were showcased to the public, allowing them to partake in the divine darshan. The festivities were filled with religious fervor as Vedic mantras echoed, conches were blown, and cymbals were played during the solemnization of the celestial marriage. The rituals commenced on Wednesday afternoon and continued until the early hours of Friday, ensuring a vibrant display of culture, art, and religious traditions unique to the region.
