Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Highlights Role of Self-Reliance and Self-Esteem in Society's Growth

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the crucial role of self-reliance and self-esteem in societal progress during the third edition of Odisha-50 event jointly organized by Sambad-Ama Odisha and the Ministry of Culture. Speaking as the chief guest, he highlighted the responsibility of enlightened individuals to lead the way, praising ‘Sambad’ for its role despite not being a government institution. Pradhan recognized Odisha’s unique traditions that hold women in high regard, citing the example of ‘Manabasa Gurubar’ where women exemplify cleanliness by cleaning their homes for Goddess Laxmi every Thursday of Margasira month. He stressed that Odisha’s prosperity would contribute to India’s growth, primarily through women’s self-reliance and awareness.

While acknowledging the state’s resources, intelligence, and healthcare infrastructure, Pradhan pointed out persistent challenges, such as pregnant women being carried in slings to hospitals and a high percentage of women suffering from anaemia and malnutrition. Looking ahead, Pradhan shared plans for increased connectivity in rural areas through optical fiber, aiming to provide 4G and later 5G access. He urged women to leverage digital platforms to showcase Odisha’s culinary culture to the global audience, underscoring the potential for growth. Throughout his address, Pradhan underlined the correlation between women’s health and the nation’s well-being. He aimed to propel Odisha’s development, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India.
