Tomorrow Marks Launch of Chandrayaan-3 with Significant Contribution from Odisha

Chandrayaan-3, India’s third lunar exploration mission, is set to launch tomorrow from Sriharikota. If successful, India will become the fourth country to achieve a soft landing on the moon, following the United States, Russia, and China. Odisha is eagerly anticipating the launch, as major components of the lander, rover, and spacecraft were manufactured at the Bhubaneswar-based Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC). The centre has developed critical parts such as valves, precision components, and processors tower placer, amounting to over 75,000 components supplied to ISRO at a cost of Rs 12 crore. More than 100 people have been working at the centre for the past two years, closely collaborating with ISRO. Lessons from the failures of Chandrayaan-2 have led to equipment redesigns for Chandrayaan-3, including additional solar panels and antennas to enhance power generation during non-ideal landings. CTTC Bhubaneswar is excitedly awaiting the success of Chandrayaan-3, which would mark a significant achievement for the center.
