Researcher Dipti Ranjan Sahoo From Odisha Selected For Prestigious Bhatnagar Awards For 2022

Prof. Dipti Ranjan Sahoo, an accomplished engineering researcher hailing from Odisha, has been selected for the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award for 2022. Among the 12 esteemed scientists chosen nationwide, Sahoo stands out in the Engineering category. Currently serving as a Professor of Structural Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Delhi, he also holds the position of Associate Dean (Infrastructure) at the institution. Prior to joining IIT-Delhi in 2010, Sahoo contributed as an Assistant Professor in the School of Infrastructure at IIT-Bhubaneswar.

Sahoo’s academic journey includes a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology under Utkal University in Bhubaneswar in 2001, followed by a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Kanpur in 2003. He obtained his Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering from the same institute in 2008. Notably, Sahoo is a fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK), Institute of Engineers (India), and Indian Society of Earthquake Technology. His prolific contributions to the field are evident in his publication of over 250 research articles, particularly in areas such as earthquake and structural fire engineering.

The Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award, named after the first Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), recognizes and celebrates outstanding scientists and researchers in seven distinct categories annually. This accolade underscores Sahoo’s significant impact on the field of engineering and his dedication to advancing scientific knowledge.
