More than 30 singers from Odisha and outside will perform in the Bhajan Samaroh to be organised on Maha Shivratri in front of Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. Among the prominent singers from outside Odisha, who have been invited to sing devotional songs at the Samaroh, include Babul Supriyo, Anuradha Paudwal and Bela Sulke. Besides, Odia singers from across the state will perform on the stage. Noted music director Manmath Mishra will conduct the orchestra during the programme. Organised by Ekamra Sanskrutika Prakashani, the Bhajan Samaroh will start at 7 pm on Saturday and continue till 5 am. The Prakashani has been organising the musical programme on Shivratri at Lingaraj temple for the last 34 years. Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal is scheduled to attend the programme as chief guest. It may be noted that the ‘Mahadeepa’ of Lord Lingaraj will be lifted atop Dadhinauti (crown) of the 11th-century shrine at 10 pm on Maha Shivratri. A decision in this regard was taken during a preparatory meeting held on Tuesday.
