Javelin thrower Dhanmati Xess bagged gold medal for Odisha at the 37th National Junior Athletics Championship being held in Guwahati in Assam. “Javelin thrower Dhanmati Xess secured first medal for Odisha at the 37th National Junior Athletics Championship, bagging Gold in Girls U-20 group with an effort of 40.64m in Guwahati, Assam”, the Odisha Sports Department informed. Interestingly, that performance was at the same venue, which fetched her bronze medal in the 2020 Khelo India Youth Games. It was Odisha’s first medal at the Junior Nationals, which will continue till November 15. The 19-year-old Dhanmati is part of a 39-strong Odisha squad taking part in the meet.
