Odisha’s Amit Bhuyan and Jagannath Khuntia achieved remarkable success at the 55th Asian Bodybuilding Championship in Kathmandu. In this prestigious competition, Amit Bhuyan hailing from Jajpur, secured the gold medal in the men’s 70kg category, a significant achievement on his international debut. Jagannath Khuntia, hailing from Jagatsinghpur, proudly brought home the bronze medal in the men’s 75kg category, marking his first international podium finish. Jagannath’s earlier accomplishments include a fourth-place finish at the 13th World Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championship in Phuket, Thailand, in 2022. Notably, he boasts a track record of two gold and one bronze medal in National and Eastern India competitions.

Odisha was well represented at the 55th Asian Championship, with a total of four bodybuilders from the state competing. Balal Khan from Ganjam and Papun Kumar Swain from Bhubaneswar showcased their talent, with Balal securing a fifth-place finish in the men’s 70kg category. The Odisha Body Building Association (OBBA), led by President Sumitra Tripathy, played a vital role in supporting and accompanying the state squad to this prestigious championship.
