Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das, hailing from Odisha, has achieved an ‘A+’ rating in the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards for 2023. This places him at the top of the list alongside two other central bank governors, Thomas J. Jordan of Switzerland, and Nguyen Thi Hong of Vietnam, who also received ‘A+’ ratings. “Global Finance’s annual Central Banker Report Cards celebrate those bank governors whose strategies outperform their peers through originality, creativity, and tenacity,” the report card stated.

Global Finance magazine, which has annually published the Central Banker Report Cards since 1994, grades central bank governors from 101 countries, territories, and districts. The grades are based on their success in areas such as inflation control, economic growth goals, currency stability, and interest rate management. An ‘A’ rating represents excellent performance, while an ‘F’ signifies outright failure.
