The triumphant landing of Vikram, Chandrayaan-3’s lander, at the moon’s south pole has filled Indians with pride, with special recognition for Odisha scientists. Debasish Mohapatra from Berhampur emerged as a key contributor to ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 mission, capturing hearts with his dedication and hard work. Debasish, a member of ISRO since 2006, played a pivotal role in various projects. His family’s elation is palpable as they recall his diligence and commitment. “Debasish worked wholeheartedly for the project. He was handling an important component of Chandrayaan-3,” shared his proud father.

With a strong academic background, Debasish excelled in science from a young age. After earning his BTech from Sarang Engineering College and his MTech from Jadavpur University, he cracked GATE and joined ISRO. His involvement in the firing section of the PSLV highlighted his research-oriented nature. Debashis’s mother echoed the family’s joy, struggling to express their happiness when Vikram lander set foot on the moon. This achievement not only celebrates India’s success in space exploration but also recognizes the remarkable contributions of individuals like Debasish Mohapatra.
