The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has taken a significant step towards strengthening its cricket coaching structure by naming a total of 16 coaches for both men’s and women’s cricket teams. Previously, OCA had appointed key personnel to lead and oversee the coaching framework. Surendra Bhave was named as the Head Coach for the Odisha senior men’s cricket team, bringing his extensive experience and strategic acumen to the forefront. V Venkatram was appointed as the Technical Director for the state academy and district cricket academies, tasked with overseeing technical development and ensuring the implementation of best practices across all levels. For the senior women’s team, Suman Sharma was appointed as the Head Coach, reflecting OCA’s dedication to bolstering women’s cricket in Odisha.
The newly named coaches will initially work at the Odisha Cricket Academy during various training camps. Their roles and responsibilities will involve preparing state teams for upcoming domestic competitions organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The assignment of these coaches to specific teams will be determined based on their individual experience, expertise, and credentials. The 11 coaches appointed for the men’s wing are: Abakash Khatua, Rashmi Ranjan Parida, Suresh Kumar, Pravanjan Mullick, Basant Mohanty, Asjit Jayprakashan, Rashmi Ranjan Das, Sourav Sehgal, Prabhat Nayak, Preetamjit Das and KV Prasad.
