TIME Magazine has listed Mayurbhanj district of Odisha as one of the 50 extraordinary destinations to explore in its list of the World’s Greatest Places of 2023. Similipal National Park, located in Mayurbhanj, is home to the exceedingly rare black tiger and has reopened for visitors with a restriction of only 60 daily vehicles to safeguard its delicate ecosystem. Visitors can now explore the park’s unique flora and fauna on guided safaris or self-guided cycling tours. The Mayurbhanj Chhau dance festival, listed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list, is set to take place on a much larger scale in April. TIME Magazine also highlighted other destinations in Odisha, including the state capital Bhubaneswar and Pangi Forest Reserve. The World’s Greatest Places of 2023 list features destinations from around the world, offering new and exciting experiences. Bespoke Chhau performances are scheduled at The Belgadia Palace, an elegant boutique hotel and royal residence, where guests can also participate in experiential retreats and visit indigenous handicraft communities.
