Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium Complex in Rourkela on Friday. He also inaugurated three Hockey training centres in Birsa, Lahunipara and Manchmara. The Hockey training centres in Bisra, Lahunipara and Manchmara have Category-3 FIH certified synthetic hockey turf with changing rooms for players, gym and a seating capacity of 200. Each facility is spread over 3 acres with a project cost of over Rs 11 cr per centre. The newly-built Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela hosted the 2022 Hockey World Cup. The stadium was built in 15 months and has a seating capacity of 20,011.
