Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has initiated efforts to develop Uttarkashi Jagannath Temple into a religious tourist destination. He held discussions with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to focus on beautifying the temple and ensuring the smooth conduct of rituals. The temple, situated amidst picturesque villages at an altitude of 4000 ft above sea level, gained attention after Ollywood stars Sabyasachi Mishra and Archita visited it during the Bahuda Yatra and joined villagers in resuming prayers. Sabyasachi pledged to cover the temple’s ritual expenses for six months. Minister Pradhan expressed plans to establish a pilgrimage tour from Puri to Uttarkashi, fostering ties between Odisha and Uttarakhand and boosting tourism in both states. He commended the efforts of the Puri Jagannath Temple servitor and the star couple for highlighting the temple’s significance. The temple had previously faced irregularities in its rituals, but now steps are being taken to ensure regular prayers.
