UK-based Odia investor Biswanath Patnaik and entrepreneur Arun Kar are planning to invest Rs 500 crore in a new EV-Hydrogen truck and commercial heavy vehicles manufacturing plant in Odisha. The plant will focus on producing heavy vehicles that will be powered by both hydrogen fuel cells and battery electric. The facility will have a production capacity of 3,000 vehicles per year and create employment for over 500 people, with more than 80% of the workforce coming from Odisha. The company also plans to set up a Bio Bag manufacturing plant that will produce bio-degradable carry bags to replace single-use plastic, investing Rs 100 crore in the project. The FINNEST company will soon approach the Odisha government with the proposal, with a target of rolling out the first truck in 2026-27.
