Renowned industrialist Anand Mahindra recently took to social media to commend a cancer care center in Odisha, lauding its initiative to offer free palliative care to patients in advanced stages of cancer. Mahindra expressed his admiration for the compassionate project, addressing Subroto Bagchi and Susmita, the individuals behind the noble endeavor, and applauding their contribution to the welfare of society.
Mahindra’s praise came in response to a post by IPS officer Arun Bothra, who shared images of the Bagchi Karunashraya Palliative Care Centre (BKPCC) located in Bhubaneswar. The center commenced its in-patient services with a primary focus on providing empathetic care to advanced cancer patients. Bothra emphasized the center’s commitment to offering free services and encouraged individuals to refer patients in need.
Situated in Info Valley-II on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, the center delivers specialized medical care to cancer patients, aiming to alleviate pain and manage symptoms associated with end-stage cancer. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Bangalore Hospice Trust (BHT) Karunashraya and Subroto Bagchi, the co-founder of Mindtree. The Bagchi family pledged Rs 130 crore towards this noble cause, demonstrating their dedication to improving healthcare accessibility and providing relief to cancer patients in need.
