PM Modi Inaugurates Exhibitions and Flags Off Pravasi Bharatiya Express at Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated four exhibitions as part of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Earlier, he flagged off the inaugural journey of the Pravasi Bharatiya Express, a special tourist train dedicated to the Indian diaspora, aimed at promoting the “Dekho Apna Desh” initiative.

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared the milestone on X, highlighting the importance of this new tourist train. Joining the celebrations, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed his delight at the event and emphasized India’s transformation into a confident, modern, and inclusive nation, where tradition meets technology.

Addressing the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, PM Modi underlined India’s dynamic progress in the 21st century, positioning the nation as a global hub for skilled talent. He praised the Indian diaspora for their contributions to enhancing India’s global reputation and acknowledged their role in spreading Indian social values worldwide. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of the diaspora, calling it a cornerstone of India’s foreign policy.

The convention, held in collaboration with the Odisha government, carries the theme, “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat”. It has drawn participants from over 50 countries and serves as a platform to connect the diaspora with India’s developmental vision. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other dignitaries joined PM Modi in welcoming Pravasi Indians to celebrate their enduring bond with the motherland.

Scheduled from January 8 to 10, the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention underscores India’s dedication to fostering relationships with its diaspora while highlighting their role in building a progressive and inclusive future.
