Odia film ‘Pratikshya’ received the Best Odia Feature Film award by President Droupadi Murmu at the 69th National Film Awards ceremony at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. Director and producer Anupam Patnaik, son of the late Odia producer and director Amiya Patnaik, was honored with the ‘Silver Lotus Award (Rajat Kamal)’ and a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 by President Droupadi Murmu. The film, inspired by a book written by award-winning author Gaurahari Das, explores the story of an unemployed boy from a middle-class family awaiting his father’s passing to secure a job through the government’s compassionate appointment scheme. ‘Pratikshya’ delves into a poignant father-son relationship and features talented actors like Dipanwit Dashmohapatra, Choudhury Jayprakash Das, and Barsha Patnaik. It’s a proud moment for Odisha, as the film had previously won the best story award at the 11th Annual DC South Asian Film Festival in Washington DC and was featured in the Indian Panorama section of IFFI 2022.
