Arunima, the daughter of Amitabh Thakur, a safety inspector at SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant, and Ruma Thakur, a dedicated schoolteacher, is currently pursuing an integrated law course at University College of Law, Utkal University. She completed her schooling at Ispat English Medium School, Sector-22, and Delhi Public School, Sector-14, Rourkela, achieving stellar scores of 97.8% in Class X and 98.2% in Class XII.

The family resides in Sector-18 of Rourkela, often referred to as the Steel City. Arunima credits her success to her year-round preparation, emphasizing the importance of developing a reading habit. She said, “I read newspapers and judgments throughout the year, which helped me navigate the lengthy 44-page question paper with 24 passages with ease.”
