In the same year, Lopamudra Mishra was honored as the Best Actress for her remarkable role in the film Baura Hata Baksha. For 2021, the award for Best Film went to Pratikshya, a film that resonated with audiences and critics alike. The Minister said film director Anant Mohapatra would be conferred with the ‘Mohan Sunder Deb Goswami’ award for 2020. Mohapatra was selected for the award for his lifelong contributions to the cinema industry. The award is instituted by the Odia Language, Literature and Culture department. Similarly, Odia filmmakers Srinibas Mohapatra and Jairam Samal will be presented with the ‘Mohan Sunder Deb Goswami’ award for 2021 and 2022 respectively. The award includes Rs 5 lakh in cash and a citation.
The awards recognize the creative and technical talents that continue to enrich Odia cinema. The Minister emphasized the importance of supporting regional cinema and its role in preserving and promoting Odia culture and storytelling.
