Union Minister of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, has unveiled the “Skill India Digital” (SID) platform, marking a significant development in India’s education and employment landscape. SID, functioning as India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), aims to harmonize and revolutionize skills, education, job opportunities, and entrepreneurship. It focuses on industry-relevant skill training, employment prospects, and entrepreneurial support, aligning with G20 objectives for digital skill promotion.

SID is designed to be user-friendly, with adaptability across various devices and support for multiple Indian languages. It employs Aadhaar-based eKYC for secure access and offers a mobile-first approach for learning flexibility. One of SID’s standout features is the introduction of Digitally Verified Credentials, ensuring secure and tamper-proof presentations of skills and qualifications. Users can showcase their qualifications in an authentic digital format and create Digital CVs with personalized QR codes for easy access.

Moreover, SID integrates government training programs from both Central and State governments, consolidating skill development initiatives into a unified hub. This initiative acknowledges the participation of various government entities in enhancing skills across sectors and regions. Overall, Skill India Digital is set to transform India’s skilling landscape, providing increased accessibility and streamlined verification processes, and contributing to the country’s development as a global skills hub.
