Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Ashwini Vaishnaw have inaugurated the extension of the Banaras-Sambalpur Express train to Visakhapatnam from Sambalpur station. The bi-weekly train will operate as a special train initially, with regular service in the extended section beginning on November 22 from Visakhapatnam and November 23 from Banaras. This extension aims to benefit commuters from western and southern Odisha, promoting travel for business, education, and medical purposes. Additionally, it is expected to enhance tourism and cultural exchange between Banaras and Visakhapatnam. The train will run with LHB coaches and include various classes like AC-2 tier, AC-3 tier, Sleeper Classes, Second Class seating, a guard-cum-luggage, and a Divyangjan coach. The scheduled stoppages include Bargarh Rd, Balangir, Titlagarh, Kesinga, Muniguda, Rayagada, Parvatipuram, Bobbili, Vizianagaram, and Kottavalasa.
