Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has urged states and Union Territories to work together in creating a collaborative education system, emphasizing the role of education as a fundamental pillar in achieving Viksit Bharat. In his address during the inaugural session of the review meeting of the Department of School Education and Literacy with states and Union Territories, Pradhan outlined his vision for the next five years, focusing on the holistic development of school education across India.
Highlighting the importance of education in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat, Pradhan noted the significant progress made in the four years since the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP). He stressed that the NEP is essential for transforming India into a knowledge superpower and ensuring equitable and inclusive access to quality education.
“India is a young country, and our challenge is to nurture global citizens for the rapidly changing 21st-century world driven by technology. It is our collective responsibility to ensure an education system that is both rooted in tradition and futuristic,” Pradhan stated.
He emphasized the need for education in the mother tongue and all Indian languages, aligning with the basic spirit of NEP to ensure Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability, and Accountability in education. Additionally, Pradhan highlighted the importance of building technology readiness in schools, fostering critical thinking among students, and adopting a holistic approach to education.
Pradhan called on states and the Centre to work as a team to strengthen the education ecosystem, replicate best practices, and enhance capacities. He urged all stakeholders to work cohesively to build a collaborative education system, leveraging education as the key pillar of Viksit Bharat.
