Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launches Malaviya Mission Teachers Training Programme by UGC

Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, has launched the Malaviya Mission – Teachers Training Programme by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in New Delhi. During the launch event, he also unveiled the program’s portal and released its information brochure. The Malaviya Mission – Teacher Training Programme, organized by the UGC in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, is designed to offer customized training programs for teachers. Its primary objective is to enhance the capacity of faculty members in higher educational institutions. The event was attended virtually by educators and dignitaries from across the nation. Dharmendra Pradhan stressed the importance of elevating the quality of education at all levels by incorporating excellence in teaching and teacher training methods. He announced the renaming of Human Resource Development Centres (HRDCs) to Madan Mohan Malaviya Teachers’ Training Centre. The program’s ambitious goal is to enhance the skills of 15 lakh teachers in higher education institutions through 111 Malaviya Mission centers across India in a time-bound manner. Pradhan highlighted that the initiative aims to prepare educators for the future, fostering a deeper understanding of Indian values and aligning with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP).

Furthermore, Pradhan revealed that capacity building under the Malaviya Mission will be aligned with the credit framework to offer career progression opportunities for educators. He emphasized that societal transformation relies on educational development, with teachers serving as catalysts for change. The training sessions will follow specific themes to instill a comprehensive approach in participants, with a focus on integrating the Indian Knowledge System into the program.

Dharmendra Pradhan underscored the significance of lifelong learning for teachers, emphasizing that their continuous development directly contributes to the holistic growth of their students. The Malaviya Mission – Teachers Training Programme represents a significant step toward improving the quality of education and preparing teachers for the evolving needs of India’s educational landscape.
