Union Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan has urged IIT graduates to become job creators rather than job seekers and to make IITs the hub of entrepreneurship. Speaking at the IIT Bombay Commencement Ceremony 2023, he also emphasized that the students should focus on public welfare and help children from rural backgrounds as the purpose of education is to serve society. The event saw the conferral of the Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) to Prof. Rohini Godbole. The ceremony marked the introduction of a new form of celebration, the ‘Commencement Ceremony’, replacing the traditional Convocation.
