In a remarkable display of cultural integration, the new Parliament building proudly incorporates the essence of Odisha’s rich artistic heritage. Among its magnificent architectural marvels, a grand replica of the world-renowned ‘Konark Chakra’ has found its place at the ceremonial gate. Crafted with intricate bronze artwork, this wheel pays homage to the iconic Sun temple of Konark. Positioned at the right side of the ceremonial gate, this awe-inspiring installation holds great significance. It will greet the President as they enter to deliver the opening speech during the budget session, symbolizing the fusion of governance and art.

Renowned as Utkala, Odisha is celebrated for its vibrant artistic legacy and architectural splendors. The Sun temple and Jagannath temple gates in Puri are testament to this heritage. In a fitting tribute, the new Parliament’s entrances feature elephants and horses, inspired by Odisha’s cultural traditions. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan expressed his admiration, emphasizing that the new Parliament exemplifies the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ (One India, Great India). He noted that this inclusion of the Konark-inspired wheel, representing energy, skill, and progress, reflects India’s glorious essence.
