Paradip Port in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district has achieved its highest-ever annual traffic of 135.36 million tonnes (MT) in the 2022-23 financial year, a 16.56% increase over the previous year. According to the Paradip Port Authority, this growth in cargo handling is the highest among all ports in India, major and non-major. The port’s contribution to the total growth in cargo handling by all major ports in India during the financial year was 25.6%, while its coastal shipping traffic increased by 38% over the previous year. The port is poised to cross the 300 MT mark in the next three years with the commissioning of the Western Dock project. It also plans to become 100% mechanized by 2030 with the mechanization of its existing four semi-mechanized berths.
