Odisha’s dynamic badminton duo, the Panda sisters, Rutaparna (24) and Swetaparna (18), have achieved a stunning victory on the international stage, making their state and India proud. The remarkable sisters dominated the BWF Tajikistan International Series, securing the gold medal in the women’s doubles category. In a breathtaking display of skill, they effortlessly overcame the Azerbaijan duo of Era Maftuha and Hajar Nuriyeva in the finals, with an impressive score of 21-3, 21-7, in just 20 minutes. Earlier in the competition, Rutaparna and Swetaparna received a bye in the quarterfinals, and they continued their stellar performance by defeating Kazakhstan’s Yeva Butpayeva and Nargiza Rakhmetullayeva 21-10, 21-8 in the semi-finals. The talented Panda sisters had previously clinched a silver medal in the APACS Kazakhstan International Future Series meet held in June.
