Odisha Tourism recently held a successful roadshow in Bangkok, Thailand, as part of its international tourism promotional campaign. The event was organized in association with FICCI and saw the participation of over 130 tour and travel operators from Thailand, along with various stakeholders from Odisha’s tourism industry. During the roadshow, Director Tourism Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav presented Odisha’s rich history, culture, and natural heritage, along with its sustainable tourism products that have been attracting global tourists. He emphasized the ancient maritime connection between Odisha and Thailand (formerly Siam) and showcased the diverse tourism offerings of Odisha that would appeal to Thai tourists.
The direct flight connectivity between Bangkok and Bhubaneswar was highlighted as a significant advantage, encouraging stakeholders from both regions to explore each other’s destinations. Ambassador of India to Thailand, Nagesh Singh, praised the strategic efforts taken by the Government of Odisha to promote tourism, stating that the networking event would foster bilateral trade relations and attract Thai tourists to India’s best-kept secret. The ultimate goal of Odisha Tourism is to establish the state as a tourist-friendly destination on the global stage. To achieve this, the focus is on strategic master planning and development of priority destinations in the state. Additionally, efforts are being made to expand tourism offerings to cater to all types of travellers, including backpackers and high-end spenders. Niche tourism offerings, such as houseboat and cruise tourism, camping, homestays, caravan tourism, and culinary tourism, are being introduced to attract visitors.
To further promote Odisha’s tourism potential, similar roadshows are planned in other Asian markets, taking advantage of the direct flight services between Bhubaneswar and various cities. The next Odisha Tourism Roadshow is scheduled to take place in Hanoi, Vietnam, on July 28, 2023.
