Animesh Pradhan, a resident of Bhalugadia village in Talcher, Angul district, Odisha, has clinched the second rank in the prestigious Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2023, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Animesh, an alumnus of NIT-Rourkela where he completed his BTech in Computer Science and Engineering in 2021, was employed as an Information System Officer with Indian Oil Corporation Limited prior to achieving this remarkable feat. His academic prowess was evident from his impressive performance in Class XII, where he secured an outstanding score of 98.8%. Animesh was a distinguished student at DAV Public School, MCL, Kalinga area, where he served as the head boy during the academic year 2016-17, as per his Linkedin profile.
In addition to Animesh’s achievement, several other individuals from Odisha have made their mark in the UPSC CSE 2023. Prajnanandan Giri and Ayushi Pradhan secured the 24th and 36th ranks respectively, while Jayashree Pradhan bagged the 52nd rank and Amritanshu Nayak secured the 110th rank. Notably, Shubhra Panda, Rashmi Pradhan, Biswajit Panda, and Sourav Das also attained impressive ranks of 204, 319, 343, and 466 respectively.
The UPSC announced that a total of 1,016 candidates passed the examination and have been advised to apply for various central government job positions. The selection process for the Civil Services Examination encompasses three phases: Prelims, Mains, and Personality Test. The Preliminary examination for the year 2023 was conducted on May 28, followed by the Mains examination on September 15, 16, 17, 23, and 24. Subsequently, 2,855 candidates appeared for the Personality Test. Results can be accessed through the UPSC’s official website.
