In a remarkable feat at the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2023 in Tamil Nadu, Odisha’s 15-year-old weightlifter, Jyoshna Sabar, secured double triumph on Friday. Competing in the 40 kg category, Jyoshna not only clinched the gold medal but also set a new National Youth record in Snatch. Her total lift of 130 kg comprised a 60 kg lift in Snatch and an impressive 70 kg in Clean and Jerk. Jyoshna Sabar, a promising athlete and a trainee of Odisha Weightlifting High-Performance Centre (HPC), has consistently showcased her exceptional talent. Prior to this achievement, she earned recognition as the best lifter in the Youth category during the IWLF National Weightlifting Championship held in Arunachal Pradesh last month.

This recent success at the KIYG further solidifies Jyoshna’s position as one of Odisha’s brightest sports talents. Her exceptional performance not only brings pride to the state but also marks her as a rising star in the field of weightlifting.
