In an experimental initiative, Odisha has introduced medicine delivery by drones in the remote tribal areas of Rayagada. Redwing’s electric hybrid drones will be employed for transporting essential medicines and medical equipment. This healthcare drone delivery network, launched after a similar project in Kandhamal, aims to address healthcare accessibility challenges in tribal-dominated regions. Supervised by USAID and Redwing, the program started with successful drone deliveries to Kalyansinghpur and Gudari Hospitals in Rayagada. Following this trial phase, the initiative will expand to deliver medicines to various hospitals situated in the district’s remote areas. Trained personnel at the District Headquarters Hospital will operate the drones.
