Odia Scientist Amiya Kumar Samal Felicitated National Young Geoscientist Award For 2022

Odia scientist Amiya Kumar Samal has been felicitated with the prestigious National Young Geoscientist Award for 2022. President Droupadi Murmu presented the National Geoscience Awards- 2022 (NGA) of the Ministry of Mines in a glittering function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi. 22 Geoscientists including working professionals and academicians from across the country received the awards, grouped into three categories. 

Mr. Samal is now working as an Assistant professor in the Department of Geology, Institute of Science at Banaras Hindu University (BHU). After completing his studies at Kendrapada College and later Ravenshaw College, he joined Banaras Hindu University (BHU) as an assistant professor. He was selected for the award for his contributions in the fields of igneous petrology and geochemistry in general and mafic dyke swarms of the Indian shield in particular. He has made a significant contribution to understanding the variation of the sub-continental lithospheric mantle (SCLM) below different archean cratons of the Indian shield.
