Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has revealed that the National Education Policy (NEP) is undergoing arrangements to include the study of sports as a formal subject. This announcement was made during the 3-day National Sports Educator’s Conference. Pradhan expressed his happiness about the progress made in the last 9 and a half years under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, highlighting the introduction of initiatives like Fit India and Khelo India, as well as the elevation of Yoga to an international level.

Emphasizing the importance of physical fitness, Pradhan commended the establishment of a university in Odisha under the leadership of Ravi Shankar, where a national-level sports organization hosted the 3-day National Sports Educator’s Conference. He reiterated that arrangements are underway in the National Education Policy to formally include sports as a subject of study.

Pradhan also mentioned that the convention served as a platform to discuss the implementation of NEP, outlining detailed plans for the necessary actions to be taken. The efforts to integrate sports into the formal education curriculum align with broader initiatives to promote fitness and wellness in the country, as evidenced by programs such as Fit India and Khelo India.
