Odisha is a land of lush art, their handlooms and handicraft medley is a treat to the eyes, wardrobes and home and workplace corners. Like every year, this year’s  OdishaParbaset up Handicraft stalls that are tell tale of Odisha’s creative resplendence.

The Silver Filigree (ChandiTarakasi) craft that hails from Cuttack, the ‘Silver City of India’ will shine it’s presence in Odisha Parba 2024. The 500-years-old craft is undying of charm, and it’s silvery sheen gives each work a luminous finish.

Dhokra jewellery, decor and utility items conveyed by the artistry of ‘DhokraDamar’ tribes of Odisha will be one of the top draws of Odisha Parba 2024. An ageless tradition finding it’s way back to Harappan Civilization, Dhokra passes down the age through the craftsmanship of this tribe.

Odisha is a rich reservoir of handlooms. SambalpuriIkat, Bomkai Silk, BerhampuriPaata and KhanduaPaata reflecting the  rich culture and heritage of the state.

The Pipili Applique (Chandua Art) native to Pipili village of Puri, Odisha, is a feisty stitchwork on cloth.Pipili artwork is adorned with elegant motifs, such as birds, animals, flowers and trees are knitted on a fabric base.

 A stall studded with kaleidoscopic colours on the stadium ground will draw eyeballs in all livelihoods! Pillow covers, wall hangings, table cloths, etc. will give your home a colourful lift!

Among several attractions at Odisha Parba, the event will also witness star-studded performances by Odisha’s well-known  singers, rappers, musicians and classical dancers. The visitors will get to a glimpse of the martial arts fusion, to be performed by Smt. KabitaMohanty and her disciples.

An upbeat folk recital, a ‘SambalpuriNrityadhara’ with Rangaboti rhythms will be performed by the Odissi exponent and founder of ‘Nrityanjali’ Dr.SamaruMeher.

If this is not just enough for you, Odisha’s star rapper ‘Big Deal’, a.k.a Sameer RishuMohanty will whoope the audience with his ‘slice-of-life’ and devotional gigs. Born to a Japanese mother and Odia father, his raps are cross-cultural numbers as unique as the rapper himself!

The bigwigs of Odisha’s musical industry, ShriPankajJal and ShriShashwatTripathy are set to take to the stage with all the grandeur to render soulful folk melodies.

An ICR Doordarshan grade artist who has represented Indian culture globally, ShriSudarshanSahu will grace the event with ‘Nritya Vedanta’ – a dance of sacred peace, with the grace of fusion Chhau and Odissi.

‘SutaAnuraga’, an Odissi dance recital dedicated to the weavers and their passion for weaving, will be led by Padmashri Ileana Citaristi and Group.

A celebrated name in the world of performing arts, Padmasri Guru Ileana Citaristi is an Odissi and Chhau dance performer and instructor, of Italian origin. She has embraced and mastered the Indian classical dance forms such as Kathakali under the tutelage of Guru Krishnan Namboodari, Odissi under Guru KelucharanMohapatra and MayurbhanjChhau under Guru HariNayak. Her foundation, ‘Art Vision Academy’ is imparting the essence of Odissi and MayurbhanjChhau to the present generation.

All these are, but a glimpse from the treasure chest of glorious events that will glimmer it’s splendour!
