The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 envisages transformational reforms in both school and higher education sectors. The Odisha government has constituted a task force to submit suggestions to the Centre on the National Education Policy for which six other sub-committees have also been formed for the same. The Union Government in July had approved the new National Education Policy (NEP) and renamed the HRD Ministry as Education Ministry.

The draft of the new NEP was submitted by a panel led by former Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chief, K Kasturirangan to the Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ last year.
