Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha, has emerged as the most seamless and safe city for commuting among 11 cities with a projected population of up to 10 lakh, according to the Ease of Moving Index (EoMI) Report 2022. Bhubaneswar scored the highest on efficient and reliable mobility, with over 78% of respondents commuting less than 30 minutes to reach their place of work. The city also scored the highest in terms of providing a safe commuting experience. However, Bhubaneswar had the highest concentration of PM2.5 among the 11 cities. The Public Bicycle Sharing system in the city is facing operational challenges. Bhubaneswar residents also use three or more applications to commute, and the Mo Bus application by Capital Region Urban Transport has enabled commuters to plan their journey and provide real-time updates on bus locations.
