Bhubaneswar J30 ITF Juniors Meet: Odisha’s Debasis and Sohini Finish Runner-up

In the recent J30 Bhubaneswar ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors meet held at the Kalinga Stadium’s Tennis Centre, Odisha players Debasis Sahoo and Sohini Sanjay Mohanty put up a commendable performance but finished as the runners-up in their respective categories. In the boys’ U-18 final, top seed Debasis Sahoo faced a tough challenge from fellow Indian Praneel Sharma, ultimately losing the match with a scoreline of 4-6, 5-7.

Sohini Sanjay Mohanty, partnering with Aakruti Sonkusare Narayan Sonkusare, showed great promise in the girls’ doubles event. They won the opening set against Laxmisiri Dandu and Priyanka Rana but were unable to maintain their momentum, eventually losing the match with a score of 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 3-10 to the Indo-American duo.

In the girls’ U-18 singles final, American player Priyanka Rana emerged victorious, defeating India’s Prisha Nikhil Shinde with a dominant performance, securing a straight-set win with a score of 6-3, 6-0. While Odisha’s Debasis Sahoo and Sohini Sanjay Mohanty fell short of claiming the championship titles, their notable performances throughout the tournament deserve recognition and commendation.
