Union Minister for Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, has initiated the ambitious 100-Cube Start-Up initiative at IIT-Bhubaneswar’s Research and Entrepreneurship Park. This groundbreaking program aims to foster the development of 100 start-ups with a valuation of Rs 100 crore each by the 100th anniversary of Odisha in 2036. The Park will serve as a nurturing ground, offering essential resources, mentorship, seed capital, and access to potential investors to support aspiring entrepreneurs in achieving this monumental goal.
With the backing of Rs 130 crore from the Ministry of Education, the Park is set to expand its current 20,000 square feet area to approximately 80,000 square feet over the next two years. Drawing inspiration from Odisha’s rich history of innovation, Minister Pradhan compared it to the architectural marvels of Konark, highlighting the state’s longstanding tradition of creativity and ingenuity.
Expressing optimism for the future, Pradhan underscored the dynamism of the youth and their potential to drive change, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat.’ He praised the growing start-up ecosystem in India, particularly in Odisha, where 40% of start-ups are led by women. Emphasizing the need for collaboration and support from all stakeholders, Pradhan called for streamlining processes and enhancing access to information, markets, and funds to empower aspiring entrepreneurs.
The event, graced by dignitaries and guests, saw the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between IIT-Bhubaneswar and 15 companies to facilitate strategic collaborations towards achieving the 100 Cube objective. Additionally, Minister Pradhan inaugurated a state-of-the-art 1500-seater auditorium and laid the e-foundation for infrastructure projects worth Rs 450 crore, marking significant milestones in IIT Bhubaneswar’s journey towards establishing Odisha as a hub of entrepreneurship and fostering a vibrant start-up culture in the country.
