Manoranjan Mishra, an alumnus of Odisha’s Utkal University, has been appointed as an Executive Director (ED) at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), effective from November 1, 2023. In this role, Mishra will oversee three key departments within the RBI: Enforcement, Risk Monitoring, and External Investments & Operations. Before his promotion to the position of ED, he held the role of Chief General Manager in the Department of Regulation.
With over three decades of experience at the Reserve Bank, Mishra has a diverse background in areas such as regulating banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), supervising banks, and managing currency. His contributions extend to participating as a member in various Working Groups on both national and international platforms, where he played a pivotal role in shaping regulatory and supervisory policies.
Mishra’s academic qualifications include a postgraduate degree in Economics and an MBA in banking and finance. He also holds a master’s degree in Finance and Financial Regulation from Aston Business School in the UK. This appointment reflects his extensive experience and expertise in the banking and finance sector.
