The 3rd Hockey Association of Odisha Junior Women’s State Championship 2024 commenced with much anticipation at the prestigious Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, Odisha. The tournament brings together over 10 teams representing district units and affiliated academies, providing a platform for some of the region’s most promising junior women hockey players. The championship will be held over five days in a single-elimination format, culminating with the final match on September 20.

In the first match, Angul triumphed over Kandhamal with a commanding 5-0 victory, moving on to the next round. The second game between Kalahandi and Koraput ended in a 1-1 draw, with Kalahandi securing a 3-1 shootout win to advance.

The third match of the day saw a dominant performance by the Gangpur Hockey Association, which overwhelmed Balasore with an 8-0 victory. The fourth match had Cuttack edging out Rayagada with a 1-0 scoreline, while Malkangiri secured a comfortable 5-0 victory over Sports Hostel Sundargarh in the fifth game. In the sixth game, Jajpur replicated Malkangiri’s scoreline with a 5-0 win over Baragarh. The day’s action concluded with SMS Hockey Academy defeating Boudh by 5-0, rounding off an exciting first day of competition at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium.
